I am very grateful that NAXOS have produced outstanding such Guitar
music over recent times. Sor as a composer was unknown to me before.
His music is original, with lovely nuances, and gentle invention-
somewhere between Haydn and Mozart, but independant in his own rite.
The interpretation by Steven Novocek is touching and delicate.
The delight in playing this CD again and again must surely encourage
NAXOS and others to keep recording more of the classical
and romantic guitar repetoire.

For what it is, it is an excellent accompaniment to my book of
Sor pieces. As I study these pieces hearing them well played is a
huge help that advances the learning process. The CD and it's
pieces were chosen as a study aid, and not to make me want to
applaud the composer or the performer.
That isn't to say that the guitarist is not gifted,
just that the pieces were largely intended as a learning experience.
That being said, I find that Sor's pieces are very MUSICAL for
student pieces, generally pleasing, and don't have the feel of
exercises or endless scales. I have the same feeling while
playing many of Sagreras' pieces.
