Sor was born before Mozart, and died after Mozart,
yet it is only recently that we have access to many of his works.
His style is quite independent, and though there are shades of
Haydn and Mozart, especially in their Contra Dances,
Sor retains such originality, that his style has been adopted
by guitar composers for 150 years after his death.
The playing here is lacelike,the sound excellent and
clear with good balance. A wonderful CD.

Sor isn't really "the Beethoven of the guitar," as admirers call him.
His music is never serious or weighty enough to stand up to
that comparison. But he is the outstanding guitar composer of
the classical era, writing idiomatically for his instrument and
always providing intelligent entertainment in his music,
if never inviting heavy emotional involvement.
This Canadian duo plays with virtually perfect ensemble--which is
very difficult to achieve on two instruments with such sharp-plucked
attacks on every note. And they express the graciousness of the
music quite well. Interesting note: the disc was produced by
another fine guitarist, Norbert Kraft. --Leslie Gerber

Dear Xanturios, I wonder if you could revive the two CDs with Guitar Duets by Sor, including this one. They look very intriguing...
For the moment I can't reupload this one, maybe in some time I could find it, as all Sor, Guitar music, sorry!!!

Dear Xanturios, thank you so much for looking them up and re-posting them! I think these are quite unique recordings, since there is so much solo Sor around but rather few duo recordings. But in any case, if something's gone missing, we all understand that as well.
