The four compositions featured on this CD represent the concertante rule; on the one hand, they document the attempts of investigating the sound nature as well as technical and expressive possibilities of the particular instruments. On the other hand, they serve as a record of Penderecki’s change of style within a 50 year period. Since the mid-1950s (Misterioso for flute and piano and Three miniatures for clarinet with piano) until today (Concerto per tromba e orchestra, 2015), they have regularly marked the composer’s creative path as solo, chamber music and concert pieces.
